Although the Boys & Girls Club of Bandera County is available to all Bandera County youth, transportation has made it difficult to impossible for kids in the Lakehills/Pipe Creek/Mico area to attend. In an effort to serve as many kids as possible, a dedicated group of individuals from these communities are working with members of the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors to open a club in the Lakehills area.
According to Anne Cassidy, Chairperson of the Boys & Girls Club of Lakehills Area Steering Committee, "We have reached a point where we know where we're going, we have a site, and we have people on board. The primary thing people must understand is that we now have to raise funds. If we don't have funds, we can't open the doors. Boys & Girls Clubs are grass roots operations. We have guidelines from national, but Clubs are owned, operated, and supported by their local community."
